Vigilance chief, AIG, SSP suspended in Punjab

Punjab government has suspended the chief director vigilance SPS Parmar, IPS along with AIG Vigilance Harpreet Singh, SSP Vigilance Swarandeep Singh.
AIG Swarandeep Singh is posted in the flying squad wing of the vigilance bureau and Harpreet Singh is posted as SSP Jalandhar range.
As per unconfirmed reports all three are suspended following allegations of inaction on his part in the ongoing Driving License Scam investigation.
The Punjab Vigilance Bureau on April 7, 2025 conducted surprise inspections at Regional Transport Authority offices and driving test centres across the state, leading to the arrest of 24 persons allegedly involved in bribery and malpractices.
A total of 16 FIRs was registered after the authorities confiscated Rs. 40,900 from middlemen who were extorting money from citizens seeking driving licence, driving tests and other services, an official spokesman had said.
