Vigilance nabs Tehsildar’s reader, peon for taking bribe

Punjab Vigilance Bureau, during its ongoing campaign against corruption, today nabbed reader and peon of Tehsildar Hoshiarpur red handed while accepting bribe of Rs. 10,000/-.

Disclosing this an official spokesperson of the Vigilance Bureau said Sarwan Chand, Reader and Rakesh Kumar, peon, both posted at Tehsildar office, Hoshiarpur have been nabbed red handed on the complaint of Hardeep Singh of village Ajjowal, Hoshiarpur district.

He added that the complainant has approached the Punjab vigilance Bureau and informed that the above said reader was demanding bribe of Rs. 14000 for the registry of plot and the deal was struck at Rs. 10,000.

After verifying the information the Bureau laid a trap and both the accused were nabbed while accepting bribe of Rs.10,000 from the complainant in the presence of two official witnesses..

“Vigilance nabs Tehsildar’s reader, peon for taking bribe’,he informed that the case under Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against both the accused at VB police station Jalandhar and further investigation was under progress.
