Vigilant Sangrur food and civil supplies officials recovered 450 bags of Parmal rice brought illegally from UP-DFSC

“Intensifying the campaign to put a stop to sell paddy/rice purchased from other States at concessional rates, in Punjab during ongoing Kharif season 2022-23 and nipping the menace of bogus billing of paddy/rice in bud, a truck is impounded today by the vigilant food and civil supplies officials of Sangrur district and an FIR has been registered” said District food supplies controller (DFSC), Sangrur Narinder Singh
Elaborating further DFSC said “ in the intervening night of November 23-24, food and civil supplies inspector Kamal Goel and Kamaldeep Singh checked a suspicious truck parked at Bhawanigarh-Nabha road. On checking they found Parmal rice loaded in the truck. They asked the truck driver to show the bill or other related documents to which the truck driver showed ignorance. He could not produce any documentation or billing of the matter purchased. He informed the food and civil supplies inspectors that he has brought this loaded truck from Sultanpur, UP on the orders of Gaurav Kumar a resident of Samana (district Patiala) and is going to Nabha (in district Patiala) to deliver the consignment. ‘
The officials acted swiftly and informed the Bhawanigarh Police. The trucks with around 450 bags was handed over to the Bhawanigarh police and an FIR is registered under section 420 (Cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property), 120 B (criminal conspiracy) IPC against the Gaurav kumar, a black marketer and a regular offender at Bhawanigarh Police Station.
Vigilant Sangrur food and civil supplies officials recovered 450 bags of Parmal rice brought illegally from UP-DFSC. He further added that the culprits won’t be spared in this matter and food and civil supplies department is fully geared up to tackle the menace of illegal activities such as bogus billing/recycling of the rice.
