Webinar on Investor Awareness Program organised by Khalsa College Patiala

Dr. Ganda Singh Career Guidance, Counselling and Placement Cell of Khalsa College Patiala in association with Centre for Investment Education and Learning (CIEL), Mumbai organised an online Seminar on “Investor Awareness Program”. Resource person, a freelance trainer with a total experience of around 20 years in sales, training and marketing, Sumeet Seth joined the online seminar and interacted with the faculty members of Khalsa College, Patiala. Faculty members of School of Commerce and Management, Mathematics and Economics were present in the webinar.
While addressing the staff members present, Seth said that it is important to never depend in single income and make investment to create a second source. He also emphasised the importance of goal based investing and always to invest in assets with your specific financial goal in mind. Seth discussed various investment options such as property, insurance, bank deposits, gold, stocks, bonds and mutual funds. The main focus of the seminar was on mutual funds. Seth highlighted the features of mutual funds such as professional management, transparency, liquidity, well-regulated by SEBI, convenient low cost and risk diversification. He also discussed various types of mutual funds available in the market and said that investors can choose according to their requirement. Some of the mutual fund schemes include Equity funds, Debt funds, Hybrid funds, Index funds, Gold exchange traded funds and Solution oriented and other schemes. Lastly, Seth discussed about the steps involved in investing in mutual funds as well as in case of any problems faced by investors they can always contact the redressal system.
Principal of the college Dr.Dharminder Singh Ubha welcomed the guest and thanked him for interacting, guiding and motivating faculty members on how to invest during the time of difficulty. He also emphasised the importance of saving first and then spending. While discussing the importance of availability of correct information while investing in market, Dr.Ubha appreciated the step taken by Dr. Ganda Singh Career Guidance, Counselling and Placement Cell.
At the end of the seminar deputy Principal of the college Dr.Jasleen Kaur thanked the guest speaker for interacting with the faculty members and shedding light on various investment opportunities available in the market. She applauded the enthusiasm shown by faculty members and encouraged members of Dr. Ganda Singh Career Guidance, Counselling and Placement Cell to organise such interactive sessions in future. Faculty members asked questions at the end of the session and took part in a lively discussion.
