Webinar on Shaheedi Diwas of ‘Char Sahibzaade’ at JGNDPSO University

Jagat Guru Nanak Dev Punjab State Open University organized collective recitation of’ ‘Mool-Mantar’ for one hour by the faculty and staff of the University on the solemn occasion of Shaheedi Diwas of ‘Chotte Sahibzaade’. A webinar was also organized to observe the historic martyrdom day of ‘Char Sahibzaade’ (four sons of Guru Gobind Singh) and Mata Gujri here today. To commemorate and dedicate to the occasion of the supreme sacrifice, the webinar was organized under the able leadership of Prof. Karamjeet Singh, Vice-Chancellor, Jagat Guru Nanak Dev Punjab State Open University, Patiala.
Webinar on Shaheedi Diwas of ‘Char Sahibzaade’ at JGNDPSO University. The key speaker, Dr. Paramvir Singh, Professor & Head, Department of Encyclopedia of Sikhism, Punjabi University, Patiala, dwelt upon the details of the cause and brave behaviour of the four Shahibzadas and their grandmother in the face of brutal cruelty and rare situation of opting for rare, unique and unparalleled sacrifice at the hands of the Mughal forces. Dr. Singh stressed upon the need to spread awareness about the Sikh history among the new generation so as to strengthen the value system in the modern times. Prof. Gurdip Singh Batra, Director, Planning & Monitoring of the University initiated the proceedings of the webinar. While delivering the inaugural address, Prof. Anita Gill, Dean Academic Affairs revisited the historical details of the sacrifice by young brave hearts setting examples for the Punjabis for similar occasions in future. Dr. Dharam Singh Sandhu, Registrar of the University, proposed the vote of thanks.

Jagat Guru Nanak Dev Punjab State Open Univeristy (PSOU), Patiala is a state university for open learning in Punjab, has been established with effect from 20th December 2019 by an Act 19 of 2019 notified vide Notification No. 23-Leg/2019 dated 20.12.2019 of the State Legislature of Punjab as a State University and is empowered to award degrees as specified by the UGC under Section 22 of the UGC Act 1956.
