Former Punjab Pradesh congress committee President and senior Punjab congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu has been sentenced to a year in jail in a 34-year-old road rage case.

The victim’s family had asked for graver charges against Sidhu and a review of a 2018 order of the Supreme Court exonerating Sidhu. However, a bench of Justices A M Khanwilkar and S K Kaul rejected the plea for imposing culpable homicide not amounting murder charge under Section 304A of IPC on Sidhu.
