Once again the war of letters begins between Punjab chief minister Bhagwant Mann and Punjab Governor Banwari Lal Purohit.
Today, Punjab Governor Banwari Lal Purohit has written a letter to Punjab chief minister Bhagwant Mann announcing his decision of the withholding of upcoming bills in the Punjab vidhan sabha.
Bhagwant Mann government has called a two-day extension of the Budget session for October 20, 21 2023.
This is the second time this year that a row has erupted between the AAP government and the Raj Bhavan over the summoning of an Assembly session — the last time it was over a two-day special sitting called in June.
The Governor’s Secretariat on Thursday said convening of any such sitting of the Vidhan Sabha is “bound to be illegal” and any business conducted during it “unlawful”.
According to the planned tentative schedule, the sitting will begin with obituary references on October 20,2023 at 11 am, followed by legislative business to be taken up at 12 pm. The House will take up legislative business on October 21.
