Patiala police  crack a major robbery done in the interior city area of Jattan Wala Chauntra, on the intervening night of 16-17 November 2023 “informed senior superintendent of police (SSP), Patiala Varun Sharma in a press conference.

Sharma added that “three burglars, Aditya Bihar (21), Raja (24), and his wife Anjali (24) are involved in a theft at the residence of a Patiala goldsmith have been apprehended by the Patiala police, around two weeks after the incident and recovered of stolen 143 Tolas of gold and 103 Tolas of silver, from the accused.”

While giving the details about the crime, Sharma added that “the thieves burgled the house of Bhupinder Singh when he along with his family had gone on a pilgrimage. Aditya and Raja were carrying out recce in the locality and saw Bhupinder’s house was locked. The duo planned to commit the theft. “

Upon their return Bhupinder Singh and family discovered that the locks of his house and almirah were broken, and gold and silver ornaments had been stolen. They immidiately inform the police.

Following the incident, a case was registered at Kotwali police station on November 17 under IPC sections 457 and 380 against unidentified culprits, leading to a thorough investigation.

“With the help of technical experts, CCTV cameras and police sources, our police team, under the supervision of Sarfaraz Alam, identified and arrested three accused involved in the theft. The recovered gold and silver are estimated to be worth Rs one crore in the market,” revealed SSP Sharma.
