Woman Empowerment in Journalism: Arvinder Pal Kaur to lead Punjabi Tribune as first woman Editor

After serving regions leading newspaper-Punjabi Tribune, a Punjabi language newspaper of The Tribune group for 36 years, Arvinder Pal Kaur took over as first woman Editor of Punjabi Tribune on Friday. She has been serving as Officiating Editor of the newspaper since January 2024.
Now, she has the distinction of being the first woman Editor of the Punjabi Tribune along with Jyoti Malhotra who is also the first woman editor-in-chief of The Tribune Group of Newspapers which was founded on 2 February 1881, in Lahore, Punjab (now in Pakistan), by Dyal Singh Majithia, a philanthropist , and is run by a trust comprising five persons as trustees.
Punjabi Tribune is a Punjabi-language daily newspaper owned by The Tribune Trust, published in the Punjab, India. It was launched on 15 August 1978 and became online on the internet in August 2010.
Arvinder Pal Kaur joined as trainee sub-editor in 1988 after having completed her post-graduation in Punjabi and Journalism and Mass Communication from Punjabi University, Patiala. In her career spanning 36 years, she has worked in various capacities, including News Editor.
Her husband Navjeet Singh Johal retired as Prof and HoD of Journalisism department of Punjabi University, Patiala.
Woman Empowerment in Journalism: Arvinder Pal Kaur to lead Punjabi Tribune as first woman Editor. As per available information, Arvinder Pal Kaur has translated into Punjabi language two books written by eminent journalist Kuldeep Nayar — autobiography ‘Beyond the Lines’ (‘Ajoke Bharat di Unkahi Dastan’) and ‘Scoop’ (‘Khas Khabar’), besides RAW chief AS Dulat’s book ‘Kashmir: The Vajpayee Years’ (‘Kashmir di Dastan’).
She has also translated the biography of actor Om Puri, ‘Unlikely Hero: Om Puri’ (‘Zindagi da Nayak: Om Puri’), written by his wife Nandita C Puri.
