Workshop “IPR-ARISE” organised at MRSPTU

Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University (Mrsptu)’s Intellectual Property Rights Cell & Internal Quality Assurance Cell Conducted a One-day Sensitization Workshop on Intellectual Property Rights – ” IPR – ARISE ” here on Friday. The event was organized as the chain of state wise events going on in the state to celebrate World Intellectual Property Day -2021 under the patronage and sponsorship by Punjab State Council for Science & Technology, Chandigarh. This one day event had covered various aspects of Intellectual Property, what is patentable and what is not, status of Punjab in the national scenario and a hands on workshop on patent search and drafting.
Chief Guest, MRSPTU, Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Buta Singh Sidhu highlighted the importance of the IPR in present-day World especially in Research. He talked about the status and current scenario of the IPR at the national level and motivated the faculty and students to acquaint themselves with the issues involved. He emphasized that the IPRs are important in all spheres of research.
Prof. Ashish Baldi, Nodal Officer, IPR Cell & Director, IQAC delivered the Welcome address and briefed about the theme and the objectives of the workshop. He informed that in a very short span, MRSPTU has made its mark in research by getting 19 funded research project and 17 patents/copyrights in process for novel innovations.
During Technical Sessions, Expert Talk on ” Innovation- Key Driver for Entrepreneurship & Economic Growth by Divya Kaushik, Scientist, Patent Information Cell, PSCST, Chandigarh was delivered. Various IPRs, processing and intricacies involved was discussed by Dr. Rahul Taneja, Scientist, HSCST, Panchkula. The sessions were coordinated by Dr. Pritpal Singh Bhullar (University Business School) and Dr. Rahul Deshmukh (Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences & Technology). In second half, a hands-on workshop on Patent Drafting & Search was conducted by Mr. Jashandip Singh, Associate Partner, InventIP and coordinated by Dr. Kawaljit Singh Sandhu, Dept. of Food Science & Technology, MRSPTU.
At the Valedictory Session, University Registrar, Prof. Gurinder Pal Singh Brar appreciated the efforts of coordinators and presided over the Research and Innovation Award Ceremony. Concluding remarks & vote of thanks was presented by Prof. Ashish Baldi, Nodal Officer, IPR Cell & Director, IQAC.
Prominent among others including, Dean Academic Affairs, Prof. Savina Bansal, Dean Research and Development Prof. Jasbir Singh Hundal, Dean Consultancy Dr. Manjeet Bansal, Dean Student Welfare, Dr. Paramjit Singh, Prof. Balwinder Singh, Director Public Relations, Mr. Harjinder Sidhu and faculty and officials of the university also attended the event, which witnessed enthusiastic participation from all over north India.
