World Deaf Day celebrated by Society for Welfare of the handicapped

Society for Welfare of The Handicapped®Patiala, Managing Patiala School for the Deaf, Patiala School for the Blind and Patiala School for the Deaf Blind celebrated WORLD DEAF DAY on 29th Sept. 2018 at schools premises at Village Saifdipur behind Pbi.Uni Patiala .
Brig.A.S.Rathore Dy.General Officer Commanding, 1, Armoured Division graced the occasion as Chief Guest. Besides, Sanjiv Sharma , Mayor Spl.Guest and elite of the town was present at the programe who applauded the efforts of Differently Challenged both blind and deaf especially deaf children who presented cultural items conveying feelings that they can do which others can and are active part of society.
The WORLD DEAF DAY is celebrated every year in the last week of Sept. to draw the attention of general public , politician and development authorities towards the achievements of the deaf people and deaf community. Throughout the celebration of the event, all the deaf people organizations worldwide are encouraged greatly to fulfill the demands and needs of the deaf people as well as increasing their rights at global level.
Objectives:
– To promote understanding among common people about the problems of deaf community all over world.
– To motivate deaf people to learn sign language for an essential common right.
– To make available the required resources in the community for the deaf people
– To promote the deaf people human rights about equal access to the education and modern technologies.
Dr.B.S.Sohal President of Society extended welcome to all the guests and Col.Karaminder Singh(Retd.) Secretary of Society presented the activities of the Society/ Schools and also highlighted the achievements of our schools. He also advised that students of our schools remained atop in international games too and won medals. S/shri R.K.Singla, Brig.RS Mann, Parmodh Gupta,Rakesh Kad, Air Marshal KS Gill, Col.Amarbir, BS Brar, RC Narang,SK Kochhar,Pawan Goyal , Simarpreet Singh, Uma Sharma, Dev Dutt . Among distinguished guests were Saurabh Jain MD Varadhman Mahavir Healthcare and team of doctors, Shyam Lal, Navug, Principal DAV School, Vivek Tiwari also graced. Dr.Ravi Bhusan presented vote of thanks and Jagjit Sreen anchored the whole programme.
