World Punjabi Centre symposium at Punjabi University
Patiala-A symposium to identify the objectives and working process of World Punjabi Centre, an associated institute of Punjabi University, Patiala was held at Seminar Hall of this centre.
Vice-chancellor, Dr. B.S. Ghuman, who is also designated as Chairman, Executive Council of World Punjabi Centre was the president in this symposium. Expressing welcoming words, newly appointed Director, Dr. Balkar Singh, urged to all academicians, participating over there to give maximum suggestions for the welfare of centre. Dr. B.S. Ghuman said the mandate to establish this organization is almost resembles with the mandate of Punjabi University. In this way, this may regarded as a sibling institute of Punjabi University. He asserted that we the duo prestigious institutes need to lead in coordinating all resources of world who are working for the welfare of Punjabi in their capacities. He also suggested for drafting a vision document about the centre in which everything related its activities should be covered in a crystal clear way.
Dr. Amarjit Grewal presented his views that we need to work upon the technical aspects for the development of Punjabi language. He also introduced a project and received suggestions from all present academicians for updating it. Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Ghuman wished as this project should be shown as a demo in a different program so that there may be a discussion to adopt this project.
Eminent Poet, Dr. Sujit Patar also asserted to walk along with the modernity for creating New Punjab. Except others, Dr. Manmohan, Delhi, Dr. Surjit, Punjabi Dept., Dr. Rajinderpal Brar, Punjabi Dept., Dr. Rawail Singh, Delhi University, Parmjit Singh Sidhu (Pammi Bai) also gave their valuable feedback. A book entitled ‘Oori’ penned by poet Sawaranjit Sawi, was also released in the next session of this Program.
