World University Celebrates ‘Punjab Day’

A special lecture dedicated to the ‘Punjab Day’ was organized by the Department of Punjabi at Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University, Fatehgarh Sahib. Dr. Satnam Singh Sandhu, Professor and Dean Languages, Punjabi University, Patiala deliberates upon ‘Punjabi Language and Gurmukhi Lipi’. He associated various concepts related to the birth of Gurmukhi Lipi with Sri Guru Angad Dev Ji instead of Brahmi script and said that the relationship between Punjabi language and Gurmukhi Lipi is as sacred as that of Brahmi Lipi and Sanskrit. He established this belief on the scientific basis of the birth and development of Gurmukhi.
World University Celebrates ‘Punjab Day’. Dr. Pritpal Singh, Vice-Chancellor of the University, in his presidential lecture discussed the current challenges being faced by Punjabi language. Dr. S.S. Billing, Dean Academic Affairs thanked all the guests and highlighted the importance of ongoing research work in the field of Gurmukhi Lipi. Explaining the significance of the topic, Dr. Sikander Singh, In-charge, Department of Punjabi said that the Department is rigorously working on the issues related to language and Gurmukhi in a scientific manner.
