World University organizes a special talk on contribution of Bhagat Ravidas

A special lecture dedicated to Bhagat Ravidas Jyanti – ‘Bhagat Ravidas Ji: Life and Bani’ was organised by the Department of Religious Studies of Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University, Fatehgarh Sahib. Presiding over the function, the Vice-Chancellor Dr. Prit Pal Singh said that Bhagat Ravidas Ji has a unique place in the Indian spiritual tradition. He said that valuable guidance can be attained from the Bani of Bhagat Ravidas Ji, so as to maintain equality and self respect, and to create a Liberal society. The Dean Academic Affairs of the University, Dr. Sukhwinder Singh Billing in his welcome address said that the personalities like Bhagat Ravidas Ji have always been a beacon of light for us.

The keynote speaker of the function Dr. Prabhjot Kaur, former Principal, Gurmat College Patiala briefed the students about the life and Gurbani of Bhagat Ravidas Ji. She said that an inequality on the basis of caste, creed and class is disgraceful for any society. The principle of Begampura given by Bhagat Ravidas Ji for the creation of an ideal society, is a great gift to humanity by Bhagat ji.

World University organizes a special talk on contribution of Bhagat Ravidas .While presenting the vote of thanks at the end of the function, the head of the department Dr. Kirandeep Kaur informed that the Department celebrates Bhagat Ravidas Ji’s parkash diwas every year.

She said that such initiatives are taken to make the students aware of their precious heritage. Besides this, their practical association with Gurmat Sidhant is also established by such events. Dr. Kirandeep also thanked Dr. Ankdeep Kaur Attwal, Head, Department of English and Public Relations officer of the University, Dr. Sikander Singh, Head, Department of Punjabi, and Dr. Harneet Kaur Billing, Incharge, Education Department for attending the function.
