World University organizes various events during the Shaheedi Jor Mel

Recalling the unique martyrdom of Mata Gujri Ji, Baba Zoravar Singh Ji and Baba Fateh Singh Ji, Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University, Fatehgarh Sahib organized different functions on the Shaheedi Sabha/Jod Mel. During the Sabha, Cancer Care Camp, Free Physiotherapy and Homeopathy camps, Gurmat book exhibitions, Turban tying training, Exhibition of agro products and harvesting machines and exhibition of religious documentaries were organised on the second day also.
A seminar on the theme of “Mata Gujri Ate Chaar Sahibzadeyaan di Shahadat” was also organised. Dr. Paramvir Singh, Professor, Punjabi University, Patiala , Dr. Dilbar Singh, Assistant Director, Youth Welfare, Fatehgarh Sahib, Gurjinder Singh, Assistant Professor, Patel Memorial National College, Rajpura were the speakers on this occasion. The speakers presented the martyrdom of the Sahibzadas as a great sacrifice for religious freedom in the history of the mankind. Sr. Gurjinder Singh made the upbringing of Sahibzadas the subject of his paper. Dr. Dilbar Singh said that every year we celebrate the martyrdom of the martyrs to inspire the sikh youth. Dr. Paramvir Singh highlighted the importance of many new historical sources related to the martyrdom of Sahibzadas and Mata Gujri ji. Dr. Dharam Singh clarified the principles of martyrdom and said that martyrdom is an important part of Sikh history.
Presiding over the seminar, Vice Chancellor, Dr. Prit pal Singh expressed his concern over the social evils and asked the masses to seek inspiration from the martyrdom of the Sahibzadas. On this occasion, Dr. R.K. Sharma and Dr. Sikandar Singh, Dean Student Welfare thanked the speakers and the entire audience. The event was attended by the heads of different departments, teaching, non-teaching staff and students. At the end, the University’s Gatka team presented a Gatka demonstration in which more than 10 teams from different districts participated. The Gatka was demonstrated with great zest and enthusiasm and the audience applauded the performances.
