Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, awarded a research grant of Rs. 45 lacs to Dr. Yadwinder Singh, Head of the Department of Botany and Environmental Sciences, Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University.
Dr. Yadwinder said that this grant has been provided by Department of Science and Technologyโs Science and Engineering research board under the earlier career research award scheme. He added that he will be conducting his research on the impact of bio geography and diversity on the wetlands of Punjab. Dr. Singh also added that out of the total amount of Rs. 45 lakhs, around 15 lakhs will be spent on buying necessary lab equipments which in the long run will be highly beneficial for the students of the department as well.
Vice Chancellor of the University, Dr. Sukhdarshan Singh Khehra congratulated Dr. Yadwinder Singh on bagging the prestigious research project and said the University will help Dr. Singh in every possible manner. Also present on the occasion, registrar of the University, Dr. Pritpal Singhย said that he hopes the research work carried out by Dr. Yadwinder will not only be beneficial to the University only but to the society and the nation as a whole as well.
