After lunch breaks and tea breaks, the officials of government, corporate, private are now all set to take a ‘Yoga Break’ during their work schedule. Yes, you heard it right. The government has asked all its employees to take a 5-minute ‘Yoga Break’, especially designed for working professionals to de-stress, refresh and re-focus at their workplace to increase their productivity. For this, an application developed by the Ministry of Ayush has to be downloaded from Google play store , which has an inbuilt five-minute-long Yoga protocol.

The Yoga protocol in the Y-Break application comprises of a few simple Yogic practices such as Tadasana- Urdhva-hastottanasana- Tadasana, Skandha chakra- Uttanamandukasana– Kati Chakrasana, Ardhachakrasana, PrasaritaPadottanasana- Deep Breathing, Nadishodhana Pranayama and Bhramari Pranayama- Dhyana .The government employees will do Asana’s for 5 minutes at the office for their physical-mental health, through a mobile application launched by the ministry of Ayush.

In an order, the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) has asked all the Ministries to promote the application. Y break introduced in offices along with lunch break, tea break. Besides, the Ayush ministry will distribute Ayush medicines to 60 years old and above citizens in the entire country.

“Yoga is now popular world-wide. It has reached almost every part of the globe. People practice Yoga, in some form or the other, is beneficial for spiritual or health purposes. The philosophy behind the ancient Indian practice of yoga has influenced various aspects of how society in India functions, whether be in relation to areas such as health and medicine or education and the arts,” Sarbanand Sonowal, Union Minister of Ayush  said, while launching the Y break app.

The DoPT order says the Ayush Ministry designed and developed the 5-minute Yoga protocol for workplace through an Expert Committee in 2019 and launched the module in January 2020 as a Pilot project in six major metros (Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Kolkata) with the help of various stakeholders. “Feedback of the same was very encouraging,” the DoPT order says, adding that led to the development of the Android App which was recently made available in Google Play Store for access by public.
