Today, Vijay Yamla grandson of great Punjabi folk singer Lal chand Yamla Jatt visited the Punjabi University Model School.

In the morning assembly held at Senior Secondary Model School Punjabi University Patiala today he entertained the students by reciting very famous songs of his grandfather. On this occasion, he made the children aware about traditional folk musical instruments so that they can preserve the ancestral culture in the future.

Vijay Yamla Jatt told the students that wherever they go in the world, they should never forget their culture.

On this occasion, Dr. Regina Maini, Senior Medical Officer and Rajinder Kumar Senior Radiographer, Health centre, Punjabi University Patiala and the entire staff of the school were present. Satvir Singh Gill, the in-charge of the school honoured Vijay by giving him a commemorative plaque.

Lal Chand Yamla Jatt was a noted Indian folk singer in the Punjabi-language. His trademark was his soft strumming of the tumbi and his turban tying style known traditionally as “Turla”.
