YPS celebrated 550th Prakash Utsav with religious fervour

Yadavindra Public School, Patiala celebrated the 550th Prakash Utsav of Guru Nanak Dev Ji with much reverence, enthusiasm and religious fervour today morning. Around 1500 students and the entire faculty of YPS foregathered at Junior School Amphitheatre and some special events like Shabad, a Nukkad Natak, an Art Fest and the donations for under privileged were organised to mark the special day.
Keeping up with the ongoing worldwide celebrations of 550th Birth Anniversary of Guruji and to commemorate the day, a special assembly was conducted in the morning. The celebrations started with chanting the excerpts from the ‘Japuji Sahib’. It was followed by a soul touching holy Shabad which was later elucidated by our senior faculty member, Onkar Singh. The citation of the Shabad created a spiritual ambience and rented peace and tranquillity in the air.
A Nukkad Natak, a skit titled as ‘Eh Lahu Kisda Hai’, emphasizing on the importance of brotherhood and hardwork was staged by the professional artists from the Punjabi University. The head of Language Department, Mr. Sukhpal Singh talked on the life and principles of the great Saint and provided an enlightening information about the Sikh religion and the teachings of Guru Nanak Dev Ji.
To foster the sense of oneness, a mega Art Competition was organised in the Stadium. All the students (around 1500) from Prep-II – XII participated in this art extravaganza. They sketched and painted some beautiful art works based on different array of topics related to the life of Guru Nanak Dev Ji. It was an unprecedented rare view in the stadium when all the students came together to celebrate the holy occasion and spread the message of togetherness, peace and unity.
In a philanthropic act, spreading the message of supporting the community, a group of volunteer students of NSS and IAYP donated sweets, clothes and stationary to the under privileged students in the Polo Ground. The Director of YPS, Patiala, Maj Gen Sanjiv Varma VSM (Retd.) advised all the students to show compassion, humbleness towards others and follow the path shown by the great Saint as Guru Ji himself was an epitome of Humanity. YPS is celebrating this pious occasion from last one year. Earlier, in the month of April, a light and sound show based on Guruji’s life was also showcased in the school premises.
