YPS ,Patiala held Flag-Off Ceremony for Cycling Expedition

Promoting cycling and adventure as a way of living, Yadavindra Public School, Patiala held a flag-off ceremony for a Cycling Expedition. The expedition will have 14 students and two teachers; Parminderjeet Singh and Preetjot Singh for this cycling expedition.

The Flag-off Ceremony was held on the bright sunny morning of March 23 at assembly area of the school. Amarjot Singh Gill (former Director General of Central Reserve Police Force), who is Member, Board of Governors, YPS; flagged off the Cycling Expedition.

“YPS has always been a pioneer in sports and adventures and is observing its Platinum Anniversary this year, a number of events are being planned to send students to explore, learn and widen their horizon. This expedition is one of such activities that will inculcate sports and hard work in a student’s life. I compliment all the participants of this expedition”, said Amarjot Singh Gill.

During their expedition they will be visiting seven leading public schools in Punjab and Himachal Pradesh by covering atleast 60-70 Km/day at high altitude of approximately 7000ft. All the students have been guided about local traffic laws and safety tips.

The student participants of the cycling expedition are: Amitoj Singh, Jungsher Singh Dhaliwal, Preetinder Singh, Tajman Singh, Fatehraj Pratap Singh, Udayraj Partap Singh, Aadil Saluja, Naunidh Marya, Himantpal Singh Toor, Kanwar Uday Pannu, Manav Bansal, Tarish Gupta, Khushjinder Singh and Arshdeep Singh.

“The idea is to commemorate the adventure spirit of YPS by visiting all the leading public schools of North India. Through this cycling expedition, we are also trying to contribute our share in saving our planet by promoting cycling as means to commute and using less fuel to make pollution free environment. It has also emerged as a fitness sport”, said Director of Yadavindra Public School, Maj. Gen (retd.)Sanjiv Varma.
