Yudh Nashian Virudh campaign is yielding meaningful results: Health Minister

Yudh Nashian Virudh campaign launched by the Punjab government to eradicate drugs from the state is yielding meaningful results and as per the directions of Aam Aadmi Party National Convener Arvind Kejriwal and Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, additional beds are being arranged in the state’s drug de-addiction centers so that every drug addict can be given quality treatment. These words were expressed by Health and Family Welfare Minister  Balbir Singh during a high-level meeting in the committee room of the District Administrative Complex Rupnagar.

While presiding over the meeting, the Health Minister said that 5 more new OOAT clinics are also being set up in Rupnagar district for the convenience of patients so that the youth coming forward for treatment after quitting drugs do not have to go to far-flung areas to get medicine and they can also do their daily activities.

He further said that after providing treatment to the drug addicts in the drug de-addiction centers, skill development training is also being provided.

He said that 15-member committees of the Health Department have been formed in every village of the state, which are coordinating with the district administration and police administration and are running the Punjab government’s war on drugs in the best possible way, which is yielding positive results.

He said that our government’s first priority is to protect drug addicts from HIV and hepatitis, and necessary arrangements have been ensured for their treatment.

He said that to keep the youth of rural areas away from the evils of drugs, the Punjab government has also prepared a plan to build playgrounds, gyms and parks in villages, which will be implemented soon.

Cabinet Minister Dr. Balbir Singh ordered the officials of the Health Department to immediately start activities to prevent diseases caused by mosquitoes and dirty water. He asked the officials of the concerned departments to ensure continuous cleaning of drinking water tanks in schools.

He instructed the officials of the Local Government Department, Health Department, Rural Development and Panchayat Department, Water Supply and Sanitation Department to start fogging on a large scale from April 21 to prevent dengue, chikungunya and malaria so that people can be protected from these diseases. He asked the Civil Surgeon to immediately start action regarding releasing gambuzia fish in the ponds of the villages.

Talking to reporters on this occasion, the Health Minister said that the present Punjab government is the first government in the history of the state which has decided to make health insurance cards under the Chief Minister’s Health Insurance Scheme to provide free treatment up to Rs. 10 lakh to the needy citizens.

On this occasion, Constituency MLA Rupnagar Advocate Dinesh Chadha, Deputy Commissioner Rupnagar  Varjeet Singh Walia, SSP Gulneet Singh Khurana, Additional Deputy Commissioner  Pooja Sial Grewal, Additional Deputy Commissioner Chandrajyoti Singh, Assistant Commissioner (G) Arvinderpal Singh Somal, Civil Surgeon Rupnagar Dr. Tarsem Singh and all SDMs of the district along with other high officials were present.
