Zonal Youth Festival begins at Khalsa College Patiala with zeal and fervour

Three day Zonal Youth Festival of Punjabi University Patiala, commenced at Khalsa College Patiala with great vigour and enthusiasm. Vice Chancellor of Punjabi University Patiala, Dr. B.S. Ghuman graced the occasion as chief guest of the festival. During the inaugural session of this Zonal Youth Festival, Dr. Satish Kumar Verma, Professor, Punjabi University Patiala was present as the Guest of Honor and during the evening session, Dr. Tejinder Kaur Dhaliwal, Director, Directorate of Education, S.G.P.C., Sri Amritsar Sahib graced the occasion as chief guest. On the first day of Zonal Youth Festival, Surjit Singh Rakhra, Honorary Secretary, College Governing Body, Dr. Jamsheed Ali Khan, Former Dean, Punjabi University, Patiala, Principals of different colleges and other eminent personalities were present.
Vice Chancellor Dr. B.S. Ghuman, while addressing the audience, said that youth festivals bring out the hidden talents of students and also provide them with a platform to nurture and polish their capabilities. He added that the youth festivals play a major role in connecting the youth with Punjabi Culture and tradition. Dr. Ghuman also congratulated everyone on the 550th anniversary of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji. He said that Khalsa College has reached new heights in academic, sports and cultural activities. Its status of NAAC ‘A’ grade, College with Potential for Excellence, and Autonomous College, adds to its place as a distinguished college.
Dr. Tejinder Kaur Dhaliwal encouraged all the teams which are participating in youth festival. She motivated them to maintain healthy competitive spirit and to participate with full energy.
College Principal Dr. Dharminder Singh Ubha extended a warm welcome to all the guests. Dr. Ubha said that the college is organising this Zonal Youth Festival coinciding it with the Diamond Jubilee year of the college.
On the first day of Zonal Youth Festival, different competitions took place. In Giddha Khalsa College, Patiala won 1st position, MM Modi College got 2nd position and Punjabi University, Patiala got 3rd position. In Nukkad Natak Govt. Mohindra College, Patiala won 1st position, University College Ghanour Patiala got 2nd position and Khalsa College, Patiala got 3rd position. In Bhand Khalsa College, Patiala won 1st position, Punjabi University Patiala got 2nd position and MM Modi College, Patiala got 3rd position. In Installation Guru Hargobind Sahib Khalsa Girls College, Karhali Sahib Patiala won 1st position, Mata Sahib Kaur Khalsa Girls College of Education, Dhamo Majra Patiala got 2nd position and Govt. Mohindra College Patiala got 3rd position. In Punjabi Lokdhara and Cultural Quiz Punjabi University Patiala won 1st position, Khalsa College, Patiala got 2nd position and Govt. Mohindra College Patiala got 3rd position. In Clay Modelling Punjabi University Patiala won 1st position, Govt. College for Girls, Patiala got 2nd position and Govt. Mohindra College Patiala got 3rd position. In Rangoli Mata Sahib Kaur Khalsa Girls College of Education, Dhamo Majra Patiala won 1st position, Khalsa College, Patiala got 2nd position and Guru Hargobind Sahib Khalsa Girls College, Karhali Sahib Patiala got 3rd position. In On the Spot Painting Punjabi University, Patiala won 1st position, Khalsa College, Patiala got 2nd position and Asian Education Institute, Patiala got 3rd position. In General Quiz Punjabi University, Patiala won 1st position, Khalsa College, Patiala got 2nd position and Govt. Mohindra College, Patiala got 3rd position. In Short Film Khalsa College, Patiala won 1st position, Punjabi University Patiala got 2nd position and Patel Memorial National College, Rajpura got 3rd position. In Rawaiti Folk Song Khalsa College, Patiala won 1st position, Guru Hargobind Sahib Khalsa Girls College, Karhali Sahib got 2nd position and University College Ghanour, Patiala got 3rd position. In Classical Dance Patel Memorial National College, Rajpura won 1st position, Punjabi University Patiala got 2nd position and Khalsa College, Patiala got 3rd position. In Classical Vocal (Solo) Khalsa College, Patiala won 1st position, Punjabi University, Patiala got 2nd position and MM Modi College, Patiala got 3rd position. In Geet/Ghazal Khalsa College, Patiala won 1st position, Patel Memorial National College, Rajpura got 2nd position and University College Ghanour, Patiala got 3rd position. In Folk Song Punjabi University, Patiala won 1st position, Khalsa College, Patiala got 2nd position and University College Ghanour, Patiala got 3rd position. In Folk Instrument Khalsa College, Patiala won 1st position, Govt. Mohindra College, Patiala got 2nd position and University College Ghanour, Patiala got 3rd position. In Group Shabad Khalsa College, Patiala won 1st position, University College Ghanour, Patiala got 2nd position and MM Modi College, Patiala got 3rd position. In Cartooning Govt. Mohindra College, Patiala won 1st position, Asian Education Institute, Patiala got 2nd position and Navjivni Institute of Special Education and Research, Sular (Patiala) got 3rd position. In Collage Govt. College for Girls, Patiala won 1st position, Govt. Mohindra College, Patiala got 2nd position and Khalsa College, Patiala got 3rd position. In Indian Group Song Khalsa College, Patiala won 1st position, University College Ghanour, Patiala got 2nd position and MM Modi College, Patiala got 3rd position. In Poster Making University College Ghanour, Patiala won 1st position, Govt. Mohindra College, Patiala got 2nd position and State College of Education, Patiala got 3rd position. In Photography Patel Memorial National College,Rajpura won 1st position, Khalsa College, Patiala got 2nd position and Punjabi University, Patiala got 3rd position.
The students participated in the festival with a lot of enthusiasm and enjoyed different competitions. Dr. Harvinder Kaur, Dean Cultural Affairs, Khalsa College Patiala contributed her best efforts towards the overall management of the festival. During the festival, different stages were conducted by Prof. Jaspreet Kaur, Prof. Rajdeep Singh Dhaliwal, Dr. Devinder Singh, Dr. Sarabjit Singh, Dr. Mansimran Kaur and Prof. Harpreet Kaur Sandhu.
