108 social media accounts of spreading false rumors about COVID-19 blocked: Sidhu

Strict action has been taken against anti-social elements who spread false rumors on various social media platforms regarding the COVID-19 epidemic and about 108 social media accounts have been blocked by the State Government. Such people will be dealt with more strictly in the future. These views were expressed by the Punjab Health and Family Welfare Minister Balbir Singh Sidhu while interacting with the media after reviewing the arrangements of COVID-19 at the Civil Hospital Sangrur today.
Expressing satisfaction over the arrangements made for COVID-19 patients, Sidhu said that mortality rate in Punjab has reduced by making tireless efforts of Doctors under the Mission Fateh Campaign. The death rate has come down and the number of people beating Corona has increased rapidly in Punjab.
He said that the recovery of a large number of people from COVID-19 was a good sign for the people of Punjab but despite this people also need to be more aware about the precautions and preventions of the Corona epidemic. He said that the people of Punjab had ignored the rumors and understood the importance of corona testing.
Replying to a query, the Cabinet Minister said that action would be taken against the doctors who were prescribing the medicine from the private drug store in case of stock of medicine available in the hospital.
He said that the kits of oximeters and necessary medicines to be distributed to the COVID patients within a day or two. He also said that about 900 doctors would be recruited soon to overcome the shortage of Medical Officers in Government hospitals.
Replying to another question, Sidhu said that School Education Minister Vijay Indera Singla had recently talked about the up-gradation of Civil Hospital Sangrur. Shortly, action will be taken in a planned manner in this regard.
Earlier, Cabinet Minister Sidhu called on Deputy Commissioner Ramvir, SSP Sandeep Garg, SDM Sangrur Babandeep Singh Walia, Civil Surgeon Dr. Raj Kumar, SMO Baljit Singh, Deputy Medical Commissioner Parminder Kaur and officials of the Health Department where he reviewed the present the situation of COVID-19 in the district.
