113-Year-Old institution recognises Dr. JPS Walia for outstanding contributions to Orthopedics and Social Service

Shri Sanatan Dharam Kumar Sabha, Shree Dasondhi Ram Veerji Apahij Ashram, a 113-year-old institution dedicated to the welfare of senior citizens and individuals with disabilities, held an Executive Committee meeting at its ashram. The meeting was presided over by Bal Krishan Singla ( President), Devi Dayal ( Senior Vice President of  Shri Sanatan Dharam Kumar sabha), and J.K.Khosla, President of Apahaj  ashram and executive members.

During the meeting, Dr. JPS Walia, former Professor and Head of Orthopedics at Government Medical College, Patiala, and currently the Chief Orthopaedic Surgeon, Member of the Administrative Committee, and Medical Superintendent at Aggarsain Hospital, Patiala, was honoured for his exceptional contributions to the field of orthopedics and social service. In recognition of his outstanding work, Dr. Walia was awarded a shawl and a bouquet of flowers by the association.

Dr. JPS Walia was recently awarded the prestigious ‘Bharat Ratna Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Gold Medal for the Year 2024’, acknowledging his dedication to the medical field and society at large. For the past 10 years, Dr. Walia has been offering his honorary services as the Chief Orthopaedic Surgeon at Aggarsain hospital, tirelessly serving the underprivileged and the general public of the region, as well as patients from the Apahij Ashram.

Beyond his remarkable achievements in orthopedics, Dr. Walia has actively contributed to social, cultural, and sports activities. He served as the Honorary Secretary and President of the RGMC Patiala for three terms, from 2013 to 2020.

113-Year-Old institution recognises Dr. JPS Walia for outstanding contributions to Orthopedics and Social Service. The meeting was attended by several prominent members of the Executive Committee, including Rajesh Aggarwal, Ashok Kumar Gupta, Prem Bansal, and Veena Mangla.

Dr. JPS Walia’s lifelong commitment to excellence in orthopedics, social service, and community development continues to inspire many, making him a deserving recipient of the Bharat Ratna Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Gold Medal for 2024 and the heartfelt appreciation from Shri Sanatan Dharam Kumar Sabha, Shree Dasondhi Ram Veerji Apahij Ashram.
