14 mountaineers of Rupnagar reach Mount Everest base camp

Being a source of pride for the city of Rupnagar , the state of Punjab and country , 14 mountaineers have reached the Mount Everest base camp in Nepal. Mount Everest Base camp is located at a staggering height of 5364 metres .
The team, led by retired handball coach, Bikramjit Singh Ghuman, started its journey from April 10 and reached Everest Base Camp on April 18. The team included climbers ranging from the age group of 9 year to 70 years .
During the 65-km one-way journey, the team faced the challenges of constantly increasing altitude and decreasing temperature. Showing great discipline and sportsmanship, everyone supported each other.
During this time, the team faced multiple health challenges but everyone managed it with courage and marched upward .
While talking on the phone, Coach Bikramjit Singh Ghuman thanked MLA Dinesh Chadha, deputy commissioner Varjeet Walia, all the residents and dignitaries of Rupnagar city who gave encouragement during this time.
This is the 1st time that 14 trekkers from 1 city undertook this daring expedition and accomplished the task .
This is the first time in history that 14 mountaineers from one city have reached the base camp in Nepal on their own, which is a matter of great pride.
Rupnagar city is becoming popular as a nursery for mountaineers. 2 children from here, Saanvi Sood and Teghbir Singh, have already set international records in the field of mountaineering.
14 mountaineers of Rupnagar reach Mount Everest base camp. The team will return to Rupnagar on April 24.
