16.76 lacs cusecs water released from Bhakra, Pong dams in July 2023

A total 16,76,593 cusecs of water was released from the Bhakra dam and Pong dam in the month of July 2023.
As per available information 8,93,162 cusecs of water was released from Bhakra dam and 7,83, 431 cusecs of water was released from Pong dam in the month of July 2023.
As per sources, the inflow of water in both the dams remained high in the month of July 2023. 19,62,030 cusecs of water entered in the reservoir of the Bhakra dam and 17,28,882 cusecs of water in the reservoir of Pong dam.
Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB) is managing both the dams. The water level of Bhahra dam on August 1, 2023 was 1662.58 and at Pong dam it was 1375.36 feet on the same date whereas the water level in Bhakra dam on the same date last year (August 1,2022) was 1612.36 feet and Pong dam was 1334.65 feet on August 1,2022.
On July 15,2023 the month lowest 16601 cusecs and on July 28,2023 month’s maximum 41994 cusec of water was released from Bhakra dam.
Similarly, on July 10,2023 , the month’s lowest 503 cusecs and on July 30 and 31,2023 month’s maximum 49569 cusec of water was released from Pong dam.
16.76 lacs cusecs water released from Bhakra, Pong dams in July 2023. As per sources “all the water from the dams was released from the power turbines and no spillways or flood gates were opened.”
With this, the water level in Bhakra is around 50 feet high and Pong dam is 41 feet high than the last year on same date i.e August 1,2022.
The total capacity of Bhakra dam is 1680.82 feet whereas the maximum capacity of Pong dam is 1392.55 feet
