24×7 services of DD Himachal launched; CM urges Prasar Bharti to promote tourism potential of State, Nationwide

Chief Minister, Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu and Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting, Anurag Singh Thakur launched 24×7 services of ‘Doordarshan Himachal’ here today.
The Doordarshan will now be available to the people of the State round the clock. Remembering late Indira Gandhi, Sukhu attributed the National telecast of Doordarshan to her and said that since then a lot of progress has been witnessed in the history of Doordarshan. He thanked the Union Minister for understanding the necessity of the reach of Doordarshan in remote and far-flung areas of Himachal Pradesh.
The State Government will ensure equitable development of the state and also sought the cooperation of the Government of India in this regard. The people of the State will now be facilitated to know more about the welfare policies and programmes of the Center as well the State Government, round the clock through DD Himachal.
The economy of Himachal Pradesh depends on tourism and the DD should promote the State’s tourism in big way to attract the tourists from far and wide. Chief Minister urged Prasar Bharti to telecast various programmes based on the rich tourism potential of Himachal Pradesh.
There is also a need to strengthen the sports infrastructure to nourish the sports talent, for which cooperation of Union Sports Minister Anurag Singh Thakur is much sought, said Sukhu. “I hope that the central Minister will also advocate for Himachal’s share in all the Centrally Sponsored Schemes (CSS),” said the Chief Minister.
Earlier, Anurag Thakur welcomed the Chief Minister and said that it was a momentous day for Himachal with the launching of 24 hours telecast of Doordarshan channel.
Equipped with modern equipments, DD Himachal will also be available on DTH. The information related to art, culture, traditions, tourist and religious places, and various achievements of the state will now be available on National network to reach the country and the world as well. Besides tourism promotion, programs on Himachali folk music should be telecast on the lines of Doordarshan’s famous program Chitrahaar. Three news bulletins of half hour duration would be broadcast on DD Himachal, alleged the Union Minister.

Earlier, Anurag Singh Thakur felicitated Sh Sukhu while CEO Prasar Bharati, Gaurav Dwivedi welcomed all the dignitaries to the event.
