2nd Day Shaheedi Sabha: Dedicated Book Fair, NSS Camp, Student Initiatives activities continue at World University

The second day of the Shaheedi Sabha–dedicated programmes at Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University, Fatehgarh Sahib, witnessed the successful conduct of multiple academic, cultural, and community outreach activities. Alongside the ongoing Book Fair and student competitions, the University also hosted its special NSS Camp and Physiotherapy Camps, demonstrating a holistic approach to student engagement and social service.
During the Book Fair and student competitions, winners of various contests were honoured. Addressing the gathering, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. (Dr.) Prit Pal Singh, emphasised the importance of connecting the younger generation with the rich Sikh heritage and the culture of books. He highlighted that the active participation of students and the sangat in these programmes reflects a positive and encouraging trend. Prof. Singh also commended the enthusiasm of students in the competitions.
The Dean of Academic Affairs, Prof. (Dr.) Sukhwinder Singh Billing, encouraged the students and lauded their performances, stating that such academic initiatives strengthen intellectual growth, self-confidence, and cultural awareness among students.
Dr. Hardev Singh, Convener of the Student Competitions and the Book Fair and Dean, Faculty of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Studies, announced the competition results. In the Poetry Recitation Competition, the first prize was awarded to Manreet Kaur of Gobindgarh Public School, while the second prize was jointly awarded to Harinder Kaur (daughter of Prabhjot Singh), Jagjeet Singh (son of Amrinderpal Singh), and Anhad Singh (son of Gurdarshan Singh) from Dashmesh Academy, Ludhiana. In the Speech Competition, the first prize went to Japnjojot Kaur (Dashmesh Academy), and the second prize to Prabhseerat Kaur (Dashmesh Academy, Ludhiana).

Dr. Navshagandeep Kaur, Head of the Department of Sociology, noted that publishers participating in the Book Fair were greatly encouraged by the enthusiastic response from the students and sangat. She expressed gratitude to all publishers and student participants.
Alongside these academic and cultural activities, the University’s NSS Camp provided students an opportunity to engage in community service, while the Physiotherapy Camps, led by the Department of Physiotherapy, offered free health check-ups and guidance, highlighting the University’s commitment to holistic student development and societal welfare. Prominent dignitaries present included Dr. Ankdeep Kaur (Director, IQAC Cell), Dr. Jaspreet Kaur (University Public Relations Officer), Dr. Baljeet Kaur (Department of English), Dr. Ramandeep Kaur (Head, Department of Political Science), Deputy Registrar Jagjeet Singh, Dr. Monica Iyer, Dr. Amandeep Kaur Virk, Dr. Sarpreet Singh, Dr. Varinder Singh Bhullar (Head, Department of Education), Dr. Baljinder Singh (Department of Punjabi), Dr. Palvinder Kaur (Department of Religious Studies), and artist Harpreet Singh Naaz.
