Multani Mal Modi College, Patiala today organized Inter-Institutional Science Fair-2018 on the theme of “Role of Science for Peace and Development” under the guidance of college Principal Dr. Khushvinder Kumar. This science fair was designed as a platform for the students to display changing paradigms of scientific understanding about applied Biotechnology, Astronomy, Space Science, Bio-diversity, Remote Sensing, Disaster Management, Bio-medical, Genetic Engineering, Application of Mathematics and chemistry for human welfare. About 286 students from educational institutions including 6 colleges and 17 schools participated with their Poster Presentations, Projects and Models (working and static). Dr. Manjeetinder Kaur, Department of Physics, Govt. Mohindra College, Patiala inaugurated the Science Fair.

College Principal Dr. Khushvinder Kumar welcomed the chief guest and the students and said that the progress in science and technology needs to be integral in promoting social change and upholding peace along with humanitarian ties through co-existence.

Chief Guest Dr. Himender Bharti, Head, Department of Zoology and Environmental Science, Punjabi University, Patiala in his address said that Science is a passion and its important think out of box. Kids can think more creatively than the adults. An alumna of the college Dr. Meenakshi Bharti, Scientist, Department of Zoology, Punjabi University, Patiala, Guest of Honour congratulated the participants.

Dr. Ashwani Sharma, Head, Dept of Botany and Co-ordinator of the Science Fair discussed the themes and subthemes of the fair with the students. Organising Secretary of this fair Dr. Rajeev Sharma motivated the students to develop scientific temperament and logical thinking by participating in such events.

Dr. Karamjit Singh, Dr. Rajdeep Singh Dhaliwal, Dr. Arneet Gill, Dr. Manavjot Kaur, Dr. Amarjit Singh and Dr. Loveleen Kaur acted as judges.

Both the College Principal and the Chief Guest honoured the winning teams and the individual winners with prizes and certificates. The results of various categories of winners are:

Poster Presentation – Multani Mal Modi College, Patiala bagged 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions and consolation prize.

Static Model Category – Govt. Mohindra College, Patiala got 1st position, Multani Mal Modi College, Patiala bagged 2nd position and Khalsa College, Patiala and Public College, Samana jointly got 3rd position and Multani Mal Modi College, Patiala got consolation prize.

Working Model Category- Multani Mal Modi College, Patiala got 1st, 2nd, 3rd positions and consolation prize.

Static Model Category – Buddha Dal Public School, Patiala bagged 1st position, Modern Senior Secondary School, Patiala got 2nd position and Sri Aurbindo International School, Patiala got 3rd position. Bhupindra International Public School, Patiala got consolation prize in this category.

Working Model Category – Our Lady of Fatima School, Patiala bagged 1st position, DAV Public School, Patiala got 2nd and 3rd positions. Bhupindra International Public School, Patiala and Senior Secondary School, Punjabi University, Patiala got consolation prize in this category.

Poster Presentation – Our Lady of Fatima School, Patiala got 1st position, Senior Secondary School, Punjabi University, Patiala and Buddha Dal Public School, Patiala jointly stood 2nd and DAV Public School, Patiala got 3rd position. Rukmani Devi Modi Collegiate Sr. Sec. School, Patiala and Career Academy, Patiala got consolation prizes in this category.

Dr. Bhanvi Wadhawan presented the vote of thanks. Dr. Rajeev Sharma, Organising Secretary conducted the stage.
