7th International Yoga Day celebrated at AIIMS Bathinda

The 7th International Yoga Day was celebrated at AIIMS Bathinda by department of Community and Family Medicine where all the doctors, nursing staff and other staff members practiced the yoga in the presence of Dr. D.K Singh- Executive Director and Dr. Satish Gupta, Dean of the institute.
In the beginning of the program the organiser of the programme Dr. Bhola Nath said that the word “Yoga” comes from the Sanskrit word “yuj” which means ‘To unite or integrate’ and where the union of a person’s own consciousness and the universal consciousness took place. He also stated that Yoga does not adhere to any religion, belief system or community; it has always been approached as a technology for inner wellbeing.
The Director of the institute said that anyone who practices yoga can reap its benefits, irrespective of one’s faith, ethnicity or culture. Yoga works on the level of one’s body, mind, emotion and energy. In this era of Non communicable disease, the practice of Yoga can help in cure and prevention of this category of diseases.
The instructor of Yoga Er. Shantanu explained that the discipline of Yoga consists of eight components namely Yama, Niyama, Asana, Pranayama, Pratyahara, Dharana, Dhyana (Meditation), Samadhi /Samyama before practicing Yoga. Yoga is no longer restricted to hermits, saints, sages but has gone to every home for the global health promotion, he added further. The programme was concluded by giving thanks to all the participants.
