A Historic Budget in the Interest of Farmers, Traders, and the Middle Class: Ajayvir Singh Lalpura

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented the Union Budget 2025 in Parliament today, prioritizing the welfare of the poor, youth, and women. Expressing his views on the budget, Ajayvir Singh Lalpura, District President of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP),Rupnagar, described it as a historic budget benefiting the middle class, farmers, and traders. He stated that this budget is a step toward realizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a Viksit Bharat (Developed India).

The budget includes significant announcements for the agricultural sector. The government plans to create employment opportunities in agriculture to benefit 1.7 crore farmers. To provide affordable credit, 7.7 crore farmers will receive Kisan Credit Cards, with the loan limit increased to ₹5 lakh. Additionally, a five-year program for increasing cotton production and a national mission for high-yield seeds will be launched.

Lalpura highlighted that the government has proposed a ₹10,000 crore Fund of Funds to promote startups, which will help new entrepreneurs raise capital. A major announcement has also been made for small and medium industries, allowing them to avail term loans of up to ₹20 crore, strengthening small traders.

The budget introduces historic changes in the income tax structure. Income up to ₹12 lakh will now be tax-free, while taxpayers earning up to ₹18 lakh will receive a tax benefit of ₹70,000. Additionally, the highest tax rate of 30% will now apply to incomes above ₹24 lakh, which was previously applicable to incomes above ₹15 lakh. These measures provide direct relief to the middle class.

Improvements in Education and Healthcare

The government aims to boost medical education by increasing 75,000 medical seats over the next five years, with 10,000 new seats being added this year. This will benefit students pursuing medical studies. Furthermore, the number of Atal Tinkering Labs in government schools will be increased to 50,000, fostering innovation in education.

Boost to Infrastructure and Tourism

Lalpura stated that the government has strengthened the transport and tourism sectors by adding 120 new destinations under the revised UDAN scheme. Greenfield airports will be developed in Bihar, and 50 top tourist destinations across India will be transformed into world-class sites.

Tax Relief and Digital Reforms

The government has emphasized digital tax reforms, reducing the compliance burden for small charitable trusts, providing relief to social service organizations. A new Income Tax Bill will be introduced next week to simplify and enhance the transparency of the tax system.

Major Relief for Public Health and the General Population

A total of 36 life-saving medicines have been exempted from customs duty, making essential medicines more affordable. Additionally, nine new handicraft products have been added to the duty-free input list, boosting the handicraft industry.

Praising the budget, Ajayvir Singh Lalpura said it provides relief to farmers, traders, and the middle class. He remarked, “The Modi government has considered every section of society in this budget. Farmers have received loan relief, traders will get financial support, and the middle class has been granted tax benefits. This budget will elevate India’s economic progress to new heights.”

Overall, the Union Budget 2025 is beneficial for the poor, farmers, traders, and the middle class. The BJP government has prepared this budget keeping in mind the interests of all sections of society, accelerating India’s development.
