Alleged flimsy case, arrest of Ravneet Bittu’s close aide by Patiala police comes to fore

Today morning Patiala police has picked up Rajesh Attri, a close aide of Union state minister and BJP leader Ravneet Bittu from his Patiala residence on the complaint of Ishu, a resident of Lahori Gate Patiala.
The police have lodged an FIR at Lahori Gate police station under section 3(2) (v) of SC AND THE ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act , 1989 on the complaint of Ishu against Rajesh Attri.
The FIR was lodged at 9:36 am, whereas the family, friends of Rajesh Attri said “Patiala police in civvies came in the morning and takes away Rajesh Attri from his residence at 9:00 am”.
As per the FIR, “the complainant Ishu, a daily wager along with his friends Vishu, Amarpreet were going towards bus stand, Patiala on the night of February 9,2025. At 10:30 when the trio reached at SDKS Bhawan Chowk, Ishu dialed a Whatasapp call number to his relative. But he wrongly dialed Rajesh Attri’s number. After receiving a whataspp call from an unknown number,Rajesh enquired about the person’s identity. When Ishu, the complainant revealed his name, address to Rajesh Attri, Attri used casteist remarks before disconnecting the phone. Than Ishu and his friends checked the number on True Caller and found it is registered in the name of Rajesh Attri. After this he lodged a complaint with the lahori gate police station.
As per the FIR, a complaint is received at 09:09 hrs on February 10,2025 at Lahori Gate police station. Acting swiftly on the complaint of a daily wager Ishu, Patiala police wasting no time, lodges’ complaint, (whose complete address is not given in the FIR), immidiately picked up Rajesh Attri, a close aide of Ravneet Bittu from his residence.
As per information, Attri is picked up by Civil Lines police station whereas the FIR is lodged at Lahori Gate Police station. Later he is shifted to Lahori gate police station.
On this issue when contacted SSP Patiala, Nanak Singh he said “ due to apprehension of law and order problem, a team of Civil Lines police station picked him up and took to Civil lines police station. After that he is shifted to Lahori Gate police station”.
Later at around 4:15 pm Patiala police presented him before the court and get 2 days police remand. Now, Rajesh Attri will be again presented before the court on February 13,2025.
In the morning Ravneet Bittu shared the information of Rajesh Attri’s arrest on his social media account. He accused the state government of continuing its vendetta politics and misusing Punjab Police to suppress BJP workers.
Senior BJP Punjab leader and BJP Punjab Mahila Morcha President Smt. Jai Inder Kaur has strongly condemned the flimsy and politically motivated arrest of BJP worker Rajesh Attri from Patiala. She said “Rajesh Attri was arrested by the Civil Lines police following a laughable complaint about a mistaken WhatsApp call. The complainant alleged that Attri used derogatory remarks during the call, leading to an immediate arrest without proper investigation.” Jai Inder Kaur reaffirmed BJP Punjab’s support for Rajesh Attri.
