Colonel Assault Case: Patiala Police avoiding to share publically the list of suspended officials’

Today morning the Senior Superintendent of police (SSP), Patiala Dr Nanak Singh has announced the suspension of 12 Patiala police officials’ in Colonel Pushpinder Singh Bath’s assault case.

During the media briefing, the SSP Patiala Nanak Singh had declared that he will provide the list of suspended officials after the media briefing.

But, the late evening no list of suspended officials was made available to the media.Meanwhile the SSP Patiala Nanak Singh couldn’t be contacted despite repeated attempts.

Punjab Human Right Commission has also taken the suo motu cognizance in the matter. Accordingly, let the complaint be put up before, Senior Superintendent of Police, Patiala to submit his report a week before the next date of hearing which is listed on 24.04.2025

Later in the afternoon a video message of a shopkeeper, claimed to be an eyewitness of the Col. Bath’s assault case was flashed. In the video message the shopkeeper said “ Col. Bath and his son had wrongly parked their vehicle near his dhaba. They ordered a Maggie. Later opened a bottle and kept the same on the bonnet of the vehicle. When I objected, they said don’t worry and start drinking on the road. Later when some policemen came in civvies they had some arguments on parking. In the meantime the son of Col punched a policeman. “

On the other hand, an Indian Express newspaper journalist Man Aman Singh Chinna has shared a medical report on his twitter account and claimed that the medical report is of Col Pushpinder Singh Bath which shows that “Not under any influence of alcohol.”

Manaman, (who reports on defence and national security affairs, also writes on topics concerning military history and Punjab politics) had said in his social media X post “Patiala Police needs an overhaul.A disinformation campaign has been launched within Patiala Police alleging that the serving Army Colonel assaulted by a dozen policemen, including 3 SHOs, was drinking in a public place in his car. The medical report prepared that very night clearly says he was not under influence of alcohol.”
