Punjab govt issues bureaucrats transfer orders in Gurmukhi for the first time

For the first time, Punjab government has issue a transfer orders of 2 IAS and 1 PCS in Gurmukhi (Punjabi) language.

Recently the Director Punjab Languages department Jaswant Singh Zafar had written a letter to the chief secretary of Punjab, KAP Sinha, IAS to instruct the government department to do their official work in Punjabi.

The AAP govt in Punjab February, 2023 had made mandatory for shops and establishments in Punjab to put up signboards in Punjabi after the state cabinet approved an amendment in relevant rules to promote the language. The cabinet, in its meeting chaired by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, approved an amendment in the Punjab Shops and Commercial Establishments Rules, 1958 by insertion of new rules 23 and 24, after existing rule 22, to promote Punjabi.

Later, the state government had made it mandatory for all schools in the state, irrespective of the educational board, to teach Punjabi as a main and compulsory subject.

Though most of the government departments were issuing transfer orders in Gurmukhi, but, today, the government takes another leap by issuing transfer orders of bureaucrats in Punjabi/ Gurmukhi language.

Punjab government has issued transfer orders of 3 IAS-PCS officers.
