Two extension lectures for B.Com, BCA students held at Govt Bikram College of Commerce

Two extension lectures were held at Govt Bikram College of Commerce, Patiala under the guidance of Principal Prof. (Dr.) Kusum Lata.
The HEIS Department of the college organised a lecture on “Linux System Administration” and extension lecture on Career Counselling and Awareness Session was organised for B.Com. students.
HEIS Department session was conducted by the college alumnus Arshdeep Singh Sahni from the BCA Batch 2021–2024, who is currently working as a Server Administrator at Kennies IT and holds the Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) certification.
The Principal of the college appreciated the initiative taken by the department and encouraged students to participate in such academic activities that bridge the gap between theoretical learning and industry practices.
Member Secretary HEIS, Dr. Reetu Kapoor emphasized the significance of developing technical competencies and staying updated with emerging technologies in the IT sector.
The programme began with Senior Asst. Prof. Dr. Harsimran Kaur welcoming the guest and introducing him to the students.
During the session, the speaker shared his practical knowledge and professional experience in the field of Linux system administration. He explained the importance of Linux in modern IT infrastructure and demonstrated various fundamental concepts and commands. A live demonstration on Linux servers helped the students understand how Linux operates in real-world server environments.
Vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Harsimran Kaur.
Another extension lecture on Career Counselling and Awareness Session was organised for B.Com. students by Bikram Alumni Global Association(BAGA) and the Commerce Department of the college.
CMA Reema Arya and CMA Mansi Goyal from the Institute of Cost Accountants of India – Patiala Chapter assisted the students in gaining clarity about professional career pathways and encouraged them to pursue globally recognised qualifications in the field of finance and management.
Joint Secretary BAGA Dr. Reetu kapoor welcomed the Resource Person and presented the vote of thanks.
