Inter Disciplinary Refresher Course in “Physical Sciences, Chemical Sciences and Engineering ” concludes at UGC-MTTC, Punjabi University, Patiala

The UGC-Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre at Punjabi University, Patiala, proudly celebrates the successful conclusion of the Interdisciplinary Refresher Course in “Physical Sciences, Chemical Sciences and Engineering (Off-line). This comprehensive two-week offline program, held from June 03 to June16, 2025, was organized in alignment with UGC-MHRD guidelines. Educators and professionals from diverse states and prestigious universities across India participated in this enriching course, which focused on equipping participants with advanced knowledge and skills in Physical Sciences, Chemical Sciences and Engineering.

The valedictory session commenced with the traditional Punjabi University Dhuni, followed by a warm welcome address by Prof. (Dr.) Raman Maini, Director of MMTTC and Professor, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Punjabi University, Patiala and expressed his heartfelt thanks to the Vice Chancellor, Punjabi University, Patiala for his continuous support to all the courses organised by UGC-MMTTC, Punjabi University Patiala. Dr. Maini welcomed the chief guest of the day, Prof. (Dr.) Vijay Kumar, Vice-Chancellor, Chaudhary Devi Lal University, Sirsa Course Coordinators of the Programme, Dr. Anup Thakur and Dr. Karamjit Singh Dhaliwal, Department of Physics, Punjabi University, Patiala and all the participants. Dr. Maini reflected on the past 12 days, describing them as profoundly enriching, filled with insightful discussions, ground-breaking research updates, and collaborative learning opportunities. Prof. Maini remarked that the Refresher Course in Physical Sciences, Chemical Sciences and Engineering has been a journey of intellectual growth, collaboration, and innovation, equipping participants with cutting-edge techniques to enhance their teaching methodologies and research outputs.  Dr. Maini congratulated the participants on successfully completing the course and highlighted its role as the beginning of new opportunities for interdisciplinary research, innovative teaching and impactful contributions to the field of Physical Sciences, Chemical Sciences and Engineering.

The presidential remarks by Vice-Chancellor, Punjabi University, Patiala, Prof. (Dr.) Jagdeep Singh, on the occasion of the completion of the Refresher Course, highlighted that it is a matter of great pride and satisfaction to witness the successful culmination of this academic programme organized by MMTTC, Punjabi University, Patiala. He noted that the course has not only provided a valuable platform for knowledge exchange and skill enhancement but has also fostered a spirit of collaboration and academic curiosity among the participants. He congratulated all the faculty members, resource persons, and participants whose dedication and enthusiasm made the course a meaningful and enriching experience. The Vice-Chancellor reaffirmed the university’s commitment to promoting academic excellence and professional development through such initiatives, in alignment with the goals of the National Education Policy. He extended his best wishes to all participants for continued success in their academic and professional pursuits.

The session continued with an inspiring and thought-provoking address by the Chief Guest, Prof. (Dr.) Vijay Kumar, Vice-Chancellor, Chaudhary Devi Lal University, Sirsa. Prof. Kumar underscored the importance of the program, describing it as an exceptional platform for faculty members from diverse institutions across India to collaborate, share ideas, and learn collectively. Encouraging the participants to “Expand Their Horizons,” he emphasized the need to embrace emerging challenges in Physical Sciences, Chemical Sciences and Engineering. Highlighting the transformative role of technology and research. He also expressed he appreciation for Dr. Raman Maini, acknowledging his unwavering commitment and hard work in ensuring the program’s success.

Participants shared their feedback, reflecting on the transformative experience of the course, adding a joyful and dynamic conclusion to the event.

Dr. Anup Thakur, Professor, Department of Physics, Punjabi University, Patiala and Course Coordinator, expressed immense pride in the participants enthusiasm and dedication. He commended their eagerness to engage deeply with interdisciplinary themes, share knowledge, and collaboratively address pressing scientific questions. Dr. Thakur emphasized that the knowledge and skills acquired during the program would enable participants to implement innovative teaching techniques and undertake impactful research in Physical Sciences, Chemical Sciences and Engineering. He also extended heartfelt appreciation to the resource persons for their expert guidance, which significantly contributed to the success of the Refresher Course.

Dr. Karamjit Singh Dhaliwal, Assistant Professor, Department of Physics, Punjabi University, Patiala being Course Co-Coordinator said that it has been a truly fulfilling experience watching such vibrant minds engage, collaborate, and grow together through this course. As we come to the close of this enriching refresher course, it gives me great pleasure to reflect on the journey we’ve all shared over the past few weeks.Our sincere gratitude also goes to the organizing team, technical staff, and support personnel, without whom this course wouldn’t have run so smoothly. He also proposed a vote of thanks.

During the closing remarks, Dr Maini extended heartfelt praise and gratitude to the dedicated staff members Dr. Mandeep Singh, Dyal Dutt, Surinder Singh, Kanta Rani, Mahaveer Singh and SurinderKumar highlighting their exemplary organizational skills and crucial contributions in ensuring that all sessions were conducted seamlessly in an offline format.
