Patiala Police recovered rusted arms, ammunition, grenades, detonators from an under construction house in Patiala. The police said that arms and ammunition including one AK 47, magazine of AK 47, One  stain gun, 4 cartridges of AK 47, 15 cartridges of Stain gun , 9 MM empty cartridges  of 7.62, One bait knife,3 Grenade detonator, one box of detonator and other rifles along with live cartridges were recovered from the house of a Colonel who is a resident of Partap Nagar, near 24 number railway crossing Patiala. The recovery was made during excavation work as part of ongoing reconstruction of Colonel’s family home.

Colonel Jasmel Singh, a serving army man was getting his house reconstructed when labourers spotted the arms and ammunition. Colonel Jasmel Singh had demolished his house and on Thursday evening during excavation work at the plot, labourers spotted the cache of arms. Colonel Jasmel informed the police about the arms and ammunition.

Police said Jasmels father had built the house in 1987 after purchasing the piece of land in 1985. His father who passed away in 2013.  A case  (No 54) against unidentified persons has been registered at Civil Lines police station under sections 25/ 54/59 of Arms act and section 5 of Explosive Substance act 1908 . However the police called the bomb Squad teams to defuse the explosives.

The police further said these arms and ammunition were buried for a long time ago and are suspecting that the arms and ammunition might have been buried during the militancy period in the state.
