Deputy Commissioner Varjeet Walia today informed that multinational company Freudenberg is undertaking the installation of RO drinking water systems in 25 government schools across the district under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative.
He stated that the project, aimed at ensuring clean and safe drinking water for students, involves an estimated cost of Rs 25 lakhs. “So far, RO systems have already been installed in 9 government schools.
The remaining installations will be completed in a phased manner,” he added.
Walia appreciated the initiative taken by Freudenberg and emphasized the importance of access to clean drinking water in promoting the health and well-being of schoolchildren.
Walia said that this initiative will benefit thousands of students, particularly in rural and semi-urban areas. “With the installation of these RO systems, the health and hygiene standards in government schools will improve significantly,” he noted.
He also mentioned that the district administration is working closely with Freudenberg to ensure timely installation and proper maintenance of the systems.
“We are also involving school staff and local panchayats to spread awareness about the importance of safe drinking water,” said Deputy Commissioner.
Freudenberg officials have assured that regular servicing and monitoring of the installed RO systems will be carried out to ensure their long-term functionality. They also expressed their commitment to continuing such community welfare initiatives in the future.
Walia appreciated the company’s contribution and urged other corporate entities to come forward with similar efforts under CSR. “Collaborations like these go a long way in strengthening public infrastructure and creating a healthier future for our children,” he said.
