MRSPTU Celebrates 79th Independence Day with Enthusiasm and Patriotism…..

Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University (MRSPTU), Bathinda celebrated the 79th Independence Day with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervor at the Athletic Ground on Friday.

The ceremony commenced with the National Flag hoisting by Registrar Dr. Gurinderpal Singh Brar, followed by a guard of honour.

In his address, Dr. Brar reflected on India’s long struggle for independence, underscoring the role of mindset in overcoming oppression. Quoting, “Revolution is an inalienable right of mankind and freedom an imperishable birthright,” he paid tribute to the supreme sacrifices of freedom fighters. He urged the audience to rise above a mentality of subjugation and embrace humanity, brotherhood, and national unity.

Dr. Brar expressed pride that Group Captain Ranjit Singh Sidhu, from Rai Ke Kalan village of Bathinda, was awarded the Vir Chakra by President Droupadi Murmu for his distinguished role in Operation Sindoor. He further encouraged youth to adopt an independent mindset, tackle contemporary challenges through innovation and research, and contribute meaningfully to society: “Even if each one of us addresses just one societal issue, we make a significant contribution to our nation, state, and university.”

Campus Director,  Prof. Sanjiv Aggarwal, recalling the sacrifices of freedom fighters, said Independence Day is not only a celebration of freedom but also a reminder of responsibility. He urged students to actively participate in Viksit Bharat Abhiyan and contribute to nation-building through discipline, knowledge, and integrity. “The real tribute to our freedom fighters is to strengthen India with our character and competence,” he added.

The ceremony featured a parade by NCC cadets and security personnel under Er. Vivek Kondal, ANO of 2 Punjab R&V SQN, NCC. Students from different states and Nepal presented patriotic songs and dances, adding vibrancy to the celebrations.

Prominent among those present were Prof. Sanjiv Aggarwal, Dr. Savina Bansal, Dr. R.K. Bansal, Dr. Anupam Kumar, Dr. Sukhwinder Singh along with Deans, Directors, and faculty members.
