Chandigarh International Airport Advisory Committee’s meeting held under the chairpersonship of MP Manish Tewari

Bahadurjeet Singh/royalpatiala.in News/ Chandigarh, August 29,2025                   A meeting of the Airport Advisory Committee of the Chandigarh International airport was held under the chairpersonship of  Manish Tewari, Member of Parliament from Chandigarh and Co-Chairpersonship of  Manvinder Singh Kang, MP from Sri Anandpur Sahib.

The meeting was attended by  Ajay Verma Chief Executive Officer, Airport Advisory Committee member  HS Lucky,  Chandermukhi Sharma,  Ravinder Pal Pali,  Pawan Dewan,  Gurmail Singh Pahalwan, Mr  Bhuvnish Kumar CASO,  Manjit Ghumman,  Karan Gilhotra, DC Chandigarh  Nishant Yadav, SSP Chandigarh Kanwardeep Kaur, SP  Ramandeep Singh.

It was resolved at the meeting that it be communicated to the Ministry of Civil Aviation and to the Airport Authority of India to designate the Chandigarh International airport as a Point of Call (POC).  Tewari also stressed that the old terminal of the Chandigarh International airport should be made operational at the earliest for that would facilitate people who come from Chandigarh and Panchkula to be able to access the airport.

He pointed out that this matter was even raised by the Chief Secretary of Chandigarh, when he attended the Civil Aviation Ministry’s conference in the May/June of 2025. Other issues with regard to the clean up of the area in and around the airport was also discussed, especially with regard to the need to mitigate the bird menace.

Tewari and  Kang directed that the meeting be held of the DC, SSP and Municipal Commissioner Chandigarh as well as DC, SSP and Municipal Commissioner of Mohali in order to resolve the flight safety issue caused by unattended garbage and encroachments around the perimeter of the airport.

The representatives of the Indian Airforce and the Chandigarh International Airport Limited should also be invited to the meeting.

In addition to this, issues with regard to increasing the frequency of flights from Chandigarh to different destinations were also taken up.
