Ladakh Protest: Climate Activist Sonam Wangchuk arrested after 4 killed in violent protest

Climate activist Sonam Wangchuk has been arrested on Friday , just days after a peaceful shutdown in Leh, Ladakh, turned violent, resulting in the deaths of four people and injuries to over 70 others.
Wangchuck was supposed to address a press conference at 2.30 pm on Friday but was arrested before he could talk to the media.
A protest has been going for full statehood of Ladakh and recognition of the UT under the sixth schedule to preserve tribal rights.
The Central government has reportedly blamed Wangchuk for inciting unrest through what it described as “provocative statements.”
As per media reports, Wangchuk has been arrested under National Security Act (NSA) . Though it is yet to be decided whether Wangchuk will be taken to a jail or some other location.
