World Heart Day Celebrated at Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Bhaddal

World Heart Day was celebrated at the Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, IET Bhaddal Technical Campus in collaboration with Chandigarh Multispecialty Hospital, Ropar. The program began with a welcome address by Principal Dr. Preet Kawal Kaur, who warmly greeted everyone. She highlighted that the main objective of this event was to spread awareness among students and staff about heart diseases and to motivate them to adopt a healthy lifestyle. She stated that in today’s times, heart diseases are the leading cause of death worldwide. She emphasized that these diseases can be prevented only through regular exercise, a balanced diet and a stress-free lifestyle.
Following this, Dr. Neety, Head of Emergency & Trauma, Chandigarh Multispecialty Hospital, explained that problems related to heart attacks, blood pressure and cholesterol are rapidly increasing due to careless lifestyle. She discussed in detail the causes and treatments of heart diseases. Dr. Swati, Dietician, shared valuable suggestions with students and staff on the importance of a balanced diet and ways to maintain heart health. Ms. Preeti Bhardwaj provided practical training to students through a live demonstration of CPR.
On this occasion, Jasmeen Saini, a B. Pharmacy student, delivered a speech based on this year’s theme “Don’t Miss a Beat” and shared an important message. Various cultural programs were also presented.
Registrar-cum-Director of the campus, Dr. S.S. Bindra, in his address, said that the management always strives not only for the academic growth of students but also to guide them towards a healthy lifestyle. He remarked that regardless of age, adopting a healthy lifestyle is essential for everyone. He appreciated the efforts of the Principal, staff and students for the success of the program and extended special thanks to the team of Chandigarh Multispecialty Hospital.
On this occasion, special guests were honored with mementos. The program concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Chetna Kotwal. Stage coordination was efficiently carried out by Jaspreet Kaur and Diksha Cheeda.
Among those present were Dr. Gurpreet Singh, Group Director – Academics; Dr. Kanchan Sharma, Principal – Vocational Studies, Dr. Taranjeet Kaur, Dean – Research and others. Overall, the day proved not only informative but also played an important role in spreading health awareness among the students.
