Rotary Club Rupnagar celebrated the International Day of the Girl Child on October 11, established by the United Nations in a unique way.

The club honored girl students who are the only children of their parents and have no brothers or sisters in an impressive function organized at St. Carmel School Ropar. The day is celebrated for the rights of girls and creates awareness about the unique challenges they face (such as lack of education and gender-based violence) and promotes their empowerment.

The girl students were honored by Rotary Rupnagar by Assistant Governor Rotarian Gurpreet Singh, incoming President Rotarian Gagan Saini and Rotarian Dr. Amar Raj Saini.

The function was part of the club’s campaign to sensitize the youth about social issues. School Development Manager Jaya Saini appreciated the efforts of Rotary while emphasizing the relevance of girls in the society. She thanked the club president Sudhir Sharma and club secretary Dr. Ankur Wahi for organizing this program.
