Toronto, Canada officially proclaims October 20, 2025 as ‘Diwali Day’

The Consulate General of India in Toronto, Canada shared that the city of Toronto has officially proclaimed October 20, 2025 as ‘Diwali Day’.
In a post on X, shared on Tuesday, it hailed the recognition celebrates the spirit of Diwali of victory of light over darkness, and acknowledges the immense contribution of the Indian community to Toronto’s cultural and social fabric.
The Consulate also shared the proclamation by Mayor of Toronto, Olivia Chow who said,’ On Diwali Day, we recognize and celebrate the historic and ongoing contributions of the South Asian community that form an important part of the City of Toronto’s motto:’ Diversity and Strength’”.
