20th Annual General Meeting Held at Institution of Engineers (India), Bathinda Local Centre

The Institution of Engineers (India), Bathinda Local Centre, organized its 20th Annual General Meeting on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at the Seminar Hall of the Bathinda Local Centre. The event featured an expert talk on “Mitigating Plastic Pollution: Challenges and Pathways.”
Prof. (Dr.) T. S. Kamal, Former Vice-President, IE(I), graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, while Er. S. S. Mundi, Council Member, IE(I), attended as the Guest of Honour. Prof. (Dr.) Baljeet Singh Khaira, Chairman, Punjab and Chandigarh State Centre , Prof. (Dr.) Jatinder Saini Joint Sect. Punjab and Chandigarh State Centre and Prof. (Dr.) Amarpartap Singh Pharwaha Professor SLIET Longowal also graced the occasion with their esteemed presence.
The Key Speaker, Er. Gagandeep Kaur, Assistant Professor, Yadavindra Department of Engineering, delivered an insightful lecture highlighting sustainable strategies and innovative approaches to tackle plastic pollution.
During the meeting, Er. Kartar Singh, Chairman, IE(I) Bathinda Local Centre, introduced the newly elected executive committee for the session 2025–27, extending warm congratulations to Prof. (Dr.) J. S. Ubhi, the newly elected Chairman, and Prof. (Dr.) Amandeep Kaur Sarao, the newly elected Honorary Secretary of the Bathinda Local Centre.

In a remarkable gesture, Prof. (Dr.) Tara Singh Kamal, the Chief Guest, announced a donation of suitable amount to the Bathinda Local Centre. The amount will be placed in a Fixed Deposit, and the interest of Rs5000/-will be utilized as remuneration for speakers during future Annual General Meetings. In recognition of his generous contribution, the expert talk will henceforth be known as the “Dr. Tara Singh Kamal Expert Lecture.”
The event was coordinated by Prof. (Dr.) Jagatar Singh Sivia, Council Member, IE(I), and Dr. Harsimran Singh, Honorary Secretary (outgoing), who extended gratitude to all dignitaries, members, and participants. The meeting concluded with an interactive discussion and a vote of thanks, marking a memorable milestone in the continuing legacy of the Bathinda Local Centre’s service to the engineering fraternity.
