Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University Concludes Seven-Day Faculty Development Programme

The University School of Law, Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University, Fatehgarh Sahib, successfully concluded its Seven-Day Faculty Development Programme (FDP) conducted from 10–17 November 2025 on the theme “Navigating the Intricacies of Psychological and Legal Issues in the Realm of Social Crimes.”
The Inaugural and Valedictory Sessions were graced by Prof. (Dr.) Prit Pal Singh, Vice-Chancellor and Chief Patron of the FDP, and Prof. (Dr.) Sukhwinder Singh Billing, Dean Academic Affairs, who appreciated the efforts of the Department in organising the programme.
Prof. (Dr.) Amita Kaushal, Head & Dean, University School of Law, Patron of the FDP, highlighted the crucial need for interdisciplinary dialogue on contemporary social crimes, while Dr. Navneet Kaur, Assistant Professor and Convenor of the FDP, welcomed the audience and elaborated the theme in detail.
The FDP received an overwhelming response with more than 100 participants from across India and abroad, including faculty members, research scholars, legal professionals, and postgraduate students. The seven-day programme comprised intellectually stimulating sessions delivered by eminent scholars.
The resource persons included Dr. Mamta Sharma, Dean Students’ Welfare, Punjabi University, who spoke on the role of mental health in criminal psychology, emphasising behavioural influences, cognitive factors, and the significance of mental health assessments in criminal justice processes.
Dr. Monika Ahuja, Professor, Law Department, Punjabi University, who discussed the expanding horizons of new criminal laws and women-specific crimes, focusing on the gender-sensitive approach of the new legal framework.

Dr. Supreet Bindra, Head, Department of Physiotherapy, who addressed ethics and challenges in criminal healthcare practice, highlighting medico-legal duties, confidentiality issues, and ethical dilemmas faced by healthcare professionals;
Dr. Harneet Billing, Head, Department of Education, who elaborated on the impact of Artificial Intelligence in the amelioration of social media crimes, exploring AI-driven interventions, digital forensics, and the complexities of cyber regulation.
Dr. Ankdeep Kaur Attwal, Director IQAC and Head, Department of English, who discussed the pivotal role of literature in shaping the social and legal narrative concerning social crimes, illustrating how literary discourse contributes to legal consciousness and reform and Dr. Dalliandeep Kaur Tiwana, Head, School of Law, Lovely Professional University, who offered insights into juvenile delinquency and criminal responsibility in the Indian legal scenario, addressing psychological factors, rehabilitation systems, and the juvenile justice framework.
The concluding session featured Dr. Rajinder Kaur, Dean, Faculty of Law, University Institute of Legal Studies, Panjab University, who delivered an engaging and forward-looking talk on India’s digital maturity in the age of deepfakes, addressing misinformation threats, ethical concerns, and the urgent need for digital literacy and regulatory safeguards.
The Organising Committee, comprising Dr. Mohleen Kaur, Dr. Kawaljit Kaur, Mankirat Kaur Sra, Divjyot Sandhu, Prabhjot Kaur, Rajandeep Kaur, and Gurleen Kaur, ensured smooth conduct through their meticulous coordination, session facilitation, communication management, and efficient execution of the week-long programme.
The FDP concluded with a formal vote of thanks by Dr. Navneet Kaur, reaffirming the University School of Law’s strong commitment to advancing interdisciplinary legal research and fostering academic excellence.
