Patiala Police nab two Bambiha gang wanted criminals after exchange of fire; weapons, stolen motorcycle recovered

“Acting on the directions of DGP,Punjab, Pardeep Singh Bajwa, incharge CIA Patiala under the command of Gurbans Singh Bains, SP (Investigation) Patiala and Rajesh Malhotra, DSP (Detective), the Patiala Police carried out a special operation on November 23, 2025, leading to the arrest of two wanted criminals after an exchange of fire. The Patiala police has apprehended two operatives of Davinder Bambiha gang at village Raungla on Sunday” said superintendent of police (SSP), Patiala Varun Sharma .

“After a brief encounter, two pistols, 30 live cartridges, five empty shells were recovered from the possession of the duo, identified as Harpreet Singh alias Makhan, a resident of Safdipur and Gautam alias Badshah, a resident of Kanda basti, Bouran Gate, Nabha” said Sharma

Sharma said the arrested accuseds are associated with Davinder Bambiha gang are notorious criminals and are planning to target a Rajpura businessman.

Sharing details of the operation, Sharma said police teams had received specific inputs about the accused’s movement. The accused, who were travelling on a motorcycle and were familiar with the area, attempted to flee when signalled to stop. During the chase in an attempt to escape they turned towards Raungla village where they opened fire on the police. They fired total five shots at the police.

In retaliatory fire, Patiala Police aimed at their legs and managed to injure both accused. The suspects fell from the motorcycle, after which the police team swiftly overpowered and arrested them. Police stated that the motorcycle used by the accused appears to be stolen. The duo has a criminal history and is wanted in several cases of theft, robbery, snatching and other criminal activities. Officials said their involvement in repeated offences had made them a major threat in the region, and police teams had been closely monitoring their movements.

He added that seven cases were registered against Makhan and two against Badshah. Further investigation is underway.
