SGGS World University Gatka Team Secures Second Position at National Competitions

National Gatka Competitions were organised by the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) at Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Khalsa College, Sri Anandpur Sahib, in commemoration of the 350th Martyrdom Anniversary of the Ninth Guru, Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji.

Participation was received from Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Delhi, and various educational institutions functioning under the SGPC. In these competitions, the Gatka team of Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University secured the second position, and the performance of the team was widely appreciated. The success of the students was acknowledged at the University level as well.

Their achievement was regarded by Prof. (Dr.) Prit Pal Singh, Vice-Chancellor, as a reflection of the University’s emphasis on discipline, cultural identity, and holistic development rooted in the teachings of the Gurus. It was noted that the dedication and spirit shown by the team aligned with the values the institution seeks to nurture.

The efforts of the team were also recognised by Prof. (Dr.) Sukhwinder Singh Billing, Dean Academic Affairs, who viewed their performance as an encouraging demonstration of commitment, teamwork, and respect for traditional Sikh martial heritage. The accomplishment was seen as an inspiration for other students to excel in diverse fields.
