Livasa Hospital Hoshiarpur introduces IVUS technology: A new era in safe heart treatment

Livasa Hospital Hoshiarpur has become the first hospital in the region to introduce Intravascular Ultrasound (IVUS), a breakthrough technology that significantly enhances the safety, accuracy and success rate of heart procedures. Technology was formally unveiled during a press conference held at the hospital on Wednesday, led by Dr. Ravi Kumar V, associate director-cardiology thus marking a major milestone in cardiac care for Hoshiarpur and neighbouring districts.
IVUS is an advanced imaging technique that uses a miniature ultrasound probe mounted on a catheter to deliver real-time, 360-degree images from inside the coronary arteries. Unlike angiography, which offers only a two-dimensional outline, IVUS provides detailed insights into plaque build-up, artery size, blockage severity, and stent positioning. This results in more accurate treatment decisions and improved patient safety.
Dr. Ravi Kumar V explained: “IVUS is a game-changing technology because it eliminates guesswork. We can now measure arteries precisely, choose the right stent size, and ensure perfect deployment, which reduces complications and improves long-term outcomes. For the first time, patients in Hoshiarpur have access to a technology that was previously limited to major metro hospitals.”
A First for the Region, IVUS has not been available in Hoshiarpur or surrounding areas until now, making Livasa Hospital the pioneer in bringing this global-standard cardiac imaging technology to the region. With this addition, patients no longer need to travel long distances to access advanced cardiac interventions.
