Republic Day celebrated at Nawanshahr, Cabinet Minister Dr. Balbir Singh unfurls the tricolor

Health and Family Welfare, Medical Education and Research Minister Punjab Dr. Balbir Singh unfurled the national flag on the occasion of the district level Republic Day function held at ITI Ground Nawanshahr.
After unfurling the national flag, Cabinet Minister Dr. Balbir Singh inspected the march past contingents and took salute from the parade.
Apart from this, tableaux depicting the development works being done by the Punjab Government were also taken out.
Deputy Commissioner Gulpreet Singh Aulakh and SSP Tushar Gupta were also present on the occasion.
Remembering the unparalleled sacrifices of Punjabis in the country’s independence, Cabinet Minister Dr. Balbir Singh saluted the brave heroes of all the three services and armed forces of the country who are protecting the sovereignty and integrity of the country.
Dr. Balbir Singh said that fulfilling the promise made to Punjabis of better healthcare facilities, the Punjab government has launched the “Mukh Mantri Sehat Bima Yojana” under which cashless treatment up to Rs. 10 lakh will be provided in more than 900 government and listed private hospitals of Punjab and Chandigarh. With this, Punjab has become the first state in the country where 65 lakh families will be covered under this scheme.

He said that major surgeries, cancer treatment, heart disease treatment, dialysis etc. will be covered under the Mukh Mantri Sehat Bima Yojana.
He said that in the 881 Aam Aadmi Clinics started by the Punjab Government, where about 5 crore people have availed free treatment, 107 types of medicines and 47 types of diagnostic tests are also done free of cost for the patients.
He said that 356 high-tech ambulances have been dedicated to the people with the aim of providing quality health facilities.
The foundation stone of a medical college costing about Rs 300 crore has been laid in the district.
He said that a heritage complex is also being built at Khatkar Kalan, the native village of Shaheed-e-Azam Sardar Bhagat Singh, at a cost of Rs 51.70 crore.
He paid tributes to all the great martyrs and wished for the prosperity and progress of the country.
During the function, he honored the families of the martyrs and freedom fighters. District Red Cross Society also presented tricycles and sewing machines to the needy. Apart from this, officers/employees who have achieved achievements in various fields and rendered excellent services in the departments including the parade commander were also honored.
On this occasion, patriotic cultural program was also presented by students of various schools.
On this occasion, the chief guest Cabinet Minister Dr. Balbir Singh was honored by the district administration with a memento. Cabinet Minister Balbir Singh declared a holiday in the schools participating in the district-level Republic Day celebrations on January 27 in the district.
